Rising R&B singer and Grammy Performer Janelle Monae gave her views on politics at Clive Davis’s Grammy Gala.
I hope that we can all just get along and coexist. I will try to do whatever I can to have coexistion.
Can’t help but agree!
Janelle Monae is featured on B.o.B.’s album The Adventures of Bobby Ray out now.
Clive Davis has called Janelle Monae as the Best New Artist; which is an incredible honor for her.
The only genre of music with sales increases was hip-hop, so it makes sense that this genre is one of the most competitive. In fact, it was such a good year for hip-hop that many good releases were overshaddowed by phenomenal ones. Drake, Eminem, Nicki Minaj, and Kanye West released some of the best albums of all time, and Ludacris, Big Boi, and Young Money released stellar Platinum efforts. This gives this year’s Grammy’s so much competition. These are our picks, now comment on this, and tell us yours.
Best Rap Solo Performance
▪ “Over” – Drake
▪ “Not Afraid” – Eminem
▪ “How Low” – Ludacris
▪ “I’m Back” – T.I.
▪ “Power” – Kanye West
Critics loved Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, it was named Album of the Year by multiple publications, but because the album was not released in time to be elegible for the Grammys Kanye’s only nomination comes from the album’s lead single the incredible, cocky, and high-production Power.
The best track on this list is Drake’s Over. The top ten hit’s sweeping orchestral mix and fast pacing lyrics defintely proved that Drake is one of the best rappers of all time.
Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group
▪ “Shutterbugg” – Big Boi & Cutty
▪ “Fancy” – Drake, T.I. & Swizz Beatz
▪ “On To The Next One” – Jay-Z & Swizz Beatz
▪ “My Chick Bad” – Ludacris & Nicki Minaj
▪ “Lose My Mind” – Young Jeezy & Plies

The Grammy’s have been famous for creating a stage in which they know music lovers will be watching. Because of this artists will take advantage by creating the most outrageous and memorable performances they can. After looking at the finalized list of performances we compiled our list of the 5 performances you do want to see, and the 5 you don’t.
This year more than ever the Grammy’s went pop. Which makes this genré the most important of them all and will prove as the descision point for the Big Four categories. See what we pick, and comment below, who do you think will take home the pop trophies?
Best Female Pop Vocal Performance
▪ “King of Anything” – Sara Bareilles
▪ “Halo” (Live) – Beyoncé
▪ “Chasing Pirates” – Norah Jones
▪ “Bad Romance” – Lady Gaga
▪ “Teenage Dream” – Katy Perry
Of the pop categories, this one had the weakest selection of all. Beyoncé’s Halo should not be eligible as it won this category last year, and Chasing Pirates is an obscure song both lyrically and melodically and failed to crack any pop chart this year. And isn’t that what Pop music stands for? Popular. On the contrary the other three nominees are all perfect picks for this year; King is a simple traditional pop song, Romance is a high production smash hit, and Teenage Dream is a fun, summer, song (and this is one of the few categories where that is acceptable).

Teenage Dream by Katy Perry has great production and a killer dance beat, perfect for a pop song.
Bad Romance was the biggest snub in both Record and Single of the Year the academy will likely award Gaga for her groundbreaking, heavy synth tune.
Best Male Pop Vocal Performance
▪ “Haven’t Met You Yet” – Michael Bublé
▪ “This Is It” – Michael Jackson
▪ “Whataya Want from Me” – Adam Lambert
▪ “Just the Way You Are” – Bruno Mars
▪ “Half of My Heart” – John Mayer

This wednesday (Jan. 5) are the 37th Annual People’s Choice Awards. Queen Latifah is hosting the CBS aired event, and although the event may not make a huge impact on pop-culture it is a representation of what people think about artists in the industry. This early in the year it is important to tell where people’s minds are when it comes to purchasing music, and this is one of the few shows in which (obviously) the viewers vote.
We listed who we think will win, and we also listed who should win. Just for kicks who we voted for.
- Airplanes by B.o.B featuring Hayley Williams
- California Gurls by Katy Perry featuring Snoop Dogg
- Love The Way You Lie by Eminem featuringRihanna
- OMG, by Usher featuring will.i.am
- Telephone by Lady Gaga featuring Beyoncé
Should Win: California Gurls by Katy Perry featuring Snoop Dogg
Will Win: California Gurls by Katy Perry featuring Snoop Dogg
Voted For: Love The Way You Lie by Eminem featuring Rihanna
First, lets note how music has changed because throughout the decade, all of these songs are collaborations, not a single solo act. The biggest song of this year was Ke$ha’s Tik Tok, but if that song is out of the way Katy Perry is a close #2. We voted for Love the Way You Lie because lyrically that song is FAR superior to any other in that category.

When the Billboard Hot 100 is released tomorrow Bruno Mars will be the leader of the chart with his song Grenade. This will be Mars’ third visit to the top of the chart in his very short career. He topped the chart earlier this year with Just the Way You Are and his B.o.B. collaboration Nothin’ on You.
Mars will knock Katy Perry’s Firework out of the top spot after three weeks there.
Mars made headlines earlier this month after receiving 7 Grammy nomination, second only to Eminem.
2010 might have been Paramore’s best year ever. The band had their most successful single, The Only Exception, and lead singer Hayley William collaborated with B.o.B. on Airplanes.
Well it seems as those are just memories…
Guitarist and Drummer Zac and Josh Farro have announced that they are leaving the band for good.
This post was found Saturday on the band’s official website:
A couple of months ago, Josh and Zac let us know they would be leaving the band after our show in Orlando last Sunday. None of us were really shocked. For the last year it hasn’t seemed as if they wanted to be around anymore. We want Josh and Zac to do something that makes them happy and if that isn’t here with us, then we support them finding happiness elsewhere. But we never for a second thought about leaving any of this behind. We really hope that you can be encouraged by the fact that the three of us who are still here are ready to take on another chapter of our journey together.
The three remaining band members have announced they have no plans of splitting up.
We wish Josh and Zac the best on their future endeavors!
