Swift Ranks Supreme on Billboard 200

Taylor Swift is atop the Billboard 200 this week after sales of her new album Speak Now were at 277,000 an increase from last weeks sales.
Although most industry executives may attribute the increase in sales to last minute Christmas shopping, it may have to do with the amount of MP3 players and iTunes giftcards found under the tree.
Susan Boyle’s The Gift was at No. 2 and Glee’s The Christmas Album was at No. 3.
Jamie Foxx’s The Best Night of My Life was the highest new release of the week; it debuted at No. 6.
Later on the list was Keyisha Cole’s Calling All Hearts which debuted at No. 9 with 128k albums sold, and Keri Hilson who opened at No. 11 with 104k copies of her new album No Boys Allowed.
Those are good numbers for Hilson whose last album opened with 96k.

Keri Hilson does not want to be Ciara

Last week, Ciara produced her worst sales ever for her album Baisic Instinct, and now that the three major debuts this week are all R&B stars it is making album retailers wonder whether the curse will spread to other artists. Keri Hilson No Boys Allowed was released this week and in an interview with Power 101.5 Keri was asked about Ciara, and although she does not say it Keri shows us that she wants to sell more than 30k.

Hilson is also asked about the Lil Kim/Nicki Minaj fued and working with Chris Brown.

Taylor to stay atop Billboard 200

This week’s chart victor Taylor Swift, Speak Now is likely to keep her rank on the Billboard 200 next week. The three major debuts this week all come from R&B singers, hopefully that will boost their sales, but these are what Hits Daily Double is predicting…Even with little promotion from either of them Jamie Foxx’s Best Night of My Life and Keyisha Cole’s Calling All Hearts are slated to sell between 120-130k while Keri Hilson’s No Boys Allowed is expected to sell just over 90k. Those would be disappointing number for Keri, but hey, they would be better than Ciara’s.
