We LOVE Miranda Cosgrove! She acts her age, is hillarious, and makes fun music. After releasing the pop princess’ smash debut Sparks Fly last Spring Cosgrove is prepping the release of her second album. She premiered her first single Dancing Crazy and it is amazing! Its fun and we cannot wait for her record. The song is very Miley (circa 7 Things) a little Ke$ha for the auto-tuned chorus and she sounds exactly like Taylor Swift at the bridge, and we love it!
To be honest, I have never understood Avril Lavigne. Her music is consistently too teen-pop for adults and too rock for kids. I thought the Canadian’s career was over after the release of her last album The Best Damn Thing, but after her amazing sample on Rihanna’s Cheers I thought maybe Lavigne’s career had changed for the better.
After receiving the free download from “liking” Avril Lavigne on Facebook I realized that Lavigne has not changed at all as an artist. She failed to grow or mature her sound in her four year absence from the music scene. BUT four years ago there was MUCH less competition in the female-pop genre it is nearly impossible for Lavigne to stand out from the likes of Ke$ha, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry.
With a quick lyrical switch WTH could be a song featured on a Miranda Cosgrove album, not the sound of a nearly 27 year old rocker with nearly 10 years of experience in the industry. Our prediction: the song and her forthcoming album Goodbye Lullaby due March 8 will flop.
