Two Nickolodeon Acts Appear on Billboard Charts!

A couple of years ago it seemed as though Disney had the monopoly on teen music acts, but with Miley, JoBros, and Demi Lovato all on a steady decline it seems as though Nickoldeon has taken over.

Earlier in the year both Miranda Cosgrove and Big Time Rush released top 10 debut albums, and this week was even bigger for Nickoldeon stars. This week two Nickoldeon produced stars appear on the Billboard Charts; Victoria Justice at No. 50 with Freak the Freak Out and Big Time Rush at No. 79 with Big Night. The latter of the two was this week’s hot shot debut.

What do you think? Is Nickoldeon eclipsing Disney?

Katy Returns to the Top of the Billboard Hot 100

After taking a week off letting Bruno Mars stay atop the Billboard Hot 100 Katy Perry’s Firework returns to the top. This is the fourth non-consecutive week this song has been atop the chart. Last year, Perry stayed at #1 for 6 weeks with California Gurls and an additional 2 weeks with Teenage Dream.

Last week’s chart victor Bruno Mars’s Grenade fell to #2 on the chart, and Ke$ha’s We R Who We R hung on to #3.

At last night’s People’s Choice Awards Katy Perry picked up the awards for “Favorite Female Singer” and “Favorite Web Celeb”

Congrats!

Eminem To Top This Weeks Billboard Charts!

Eminem’s seventh studio album Recovery first topped the Billboard 200 in June, but it seems it may top the charts yet again. Hits DailyDouble is reporting that next weeks charts will be a toss-up between Eminem and current chart superior Taylor Swift. Neither of the releases for these album occured in December or November which shows that 2010 was owned by a few Blockbuster albums rather than many that sold above-average.

Next week’s album charts will be driven by iTunes and other music stores giftcards. The teen market will be in demand, so it is projected that Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, and Kanye West will occupy spots #3-5 on the albums charts; Bruno Mars and Katy Perry are also expected to rank in high positions.

What do you think? What did you buy with your giftcards?

Wiz Khalfia Enters Top 10

This is Awesome!
For the first time in his carreer Wiz Khalfia will enter the Billboard Hot 100 tomorrow with his song Black and Yellow. The song spiked up when it came to downloads this week which may be attributed to the unwrapping of MP3 players and iTunes Gift Cards this weekend.
Also debuting in the top 10 is Enrique Inglases with Tonight. The song spiked in popularity also after the song’s NSFW video was released.
Trey Songz, Rihanna, Ke$ha, P!nk, and Nicki Minaj are also in the Bruno Mars led chart

Bruno Mars’ “Grenade” Explodes atop Hot 100

When the Billboard Hot 100 is released tomorrow Bruno Mars will be the leader of the chart with his song Grenade. This will be Mars’ third visit to the top of the chart in his very short career. He topped the chart earlier this year with Just the Way You Are and his B.o.B. collaboration Nothin’ on You.
Mars will knock Katy Perry’s Firework out of the top spot after three weeks there.
Mars made headlines earlier this month after receiving 7 Grammy nomination, second only to Eminem.

Swift Ranks Supreme on Billboard 200

Taylor Swift is atop the Billboard 200 this week after sales of her new album Speak Now were at 277,000 an increase from last weeks sales.
Although most industry executives may attribute the increase in sales to last minute Christmas shopping, it may have to do with the amount of MP3 players and iTunes giftcards found under the tree.
Susan Boyle’s The Gift was at No. 2 and Glee’s The Christmas Album was at No. 3.
Jamie Foxx’s The Best Night of My Life was the highest new release of the week; it debuted at No. 6.
Later on the list was Keyisha Cole’s Calling All Hearts which debuted at No. 9 with 128k albums sold, and Keri Hilson who opened at No. 11 with 104k copies of her new album No Boys Allowed.
Those are good numbers for Hilson whose last album opened with 96k.
Thoughts on this week’s charts?

Rihanna and Don Omer own the Social 50 Chart

In the “Social 50” chart in Billboard Magazine released 4 weeks ago today there have only been two #1 Artists. The chart which measures YouTube views, Facebook likes, Twitter followers, MySpace friends, and Blogs (like this one) has only seen the Black Eyed Peas and Rihanna reach the top spot. Rihanna returns to number 1 for a second non-consecutive week.

Latin singer Don Omer jumps 17 spots to #2 after the success of his song “Danza Kuduro” his MySpace Music page views and MySpace plays were up in triple-digit percentage changes.

Justin Beiber, Eminem, the Black Eyed Peas, Katy Perry, and Lady Gaga are also in the top 10.

What Do You Think? Is the chart accurate?

More importantly, who still uses MySpace?
